An extension of Higher Grounds Trading Co., offering public and professional coffee education, as well as other specialty beverage and sensory experiences, on the 2nd floor of Commongrounds Cooperative in Traverse City, MI.

The Learning Lab’s Mission is to be an educational resource for hospitality workers and anyone who enjoys a quality beverage, empowering them with both professional development and casual engagement opportunities to learn more about the world of specialty beverages.

Do you want to learn all things coffee? This is your place. My daughter and I took the Espresso 101 class and then the latte art class a few weeks later, with her aunt in tow. We had so much fun! First, you learn a ton. Second, Jen is an excellent teacher—supportive, fun, super chill, and not phased by anything, while also knowing where to emphasize the important details. Highly recommended classes, and the building is beautiful.

Highly recommend the classes at Higher Grounds. The instructor, Jennifer Yeatts, is incredibly knowledgeable and also very patient. Every coffee consumer would benefit from the Introduction to Coffee class. And Barista Foundations was a great companion course for anyone interested in making excellent espresso drinks, either at home or in a coffee shop. Plus Traverse City is a wonderful location to visit.
